Abstract
Front cover image: Carbon-based thermoelectric materials have shown remarkable advancements since the discovery of conducting polymers, carbon allotropes, and most recently, organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites. However, the thermoelectric power factor is still low compared to state-of-the-art inorganic semiconductors from either low Seebeck coefficient or electrical conductivity. In article number 10.1002/cey2.121, a research group by Sang Hyuk Im at Korea University summarizes the recent strategies applied on carbon materials to achieve high-thermoelectric performance, such as chemical doping and nano-compositing with organic and inorganic materials. The authors also highlight the key studies that have successfully demonstrated high-performance flexible thermoelectric devices using carbon materials and share the future perspectives of carbon-based thermoelectric materials.
