Nanogratings Embedded in Al2O3-Dy2O3 Glass by Femtosecond Laser Irradiation

Department of Material Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, Satoshi Mori

Abstract

The self-assembled nanogratings embedded in number of materials, which are aligned according to the laser polarization, is an intriguing phenomenon induced by femtosecond light pulses. Curiously, the orientation of such periodic nanostructure is different between a glass and an indirect bandgap semiconductor. Furthermore a material in which nanogratings can be induced is limited.
