A new shielded SIMS instrument for analysis of highly radioactive materials
Source abstract
Abstract
A shielded SIMS instrument has been developed for analysis of highly radioactive materials. Based on a Cameca IMS 6f, it includes protections against radiation and alpha contamination as well as a new sample introduction system, motorised slits and diaphragms, real time contamination control, etc. First results show the capability of safe sample handling and that all the analytical capabilities of the Cameca IMS 6f have been preserved.
