Direct hydrogenation and one-pot reductive amidation of nitro compounds over Pd/ZnO nanoparticles as a recyclable and heterogeneous catalyst
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract A novel Pd supported on ZnO nanoparticles was readily synthesized and characterized. The amount of palladium on ZnO is 9.84 wt% which was determined by ICP analysis and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). Percentage of accessible Pd as active catalyst is also estimated to 2.72% based on the thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. This nano-sized Pd/ZnO with an average particle size of 20–25 nm and specific surface area 40.61 m 2 g −1 was used as a new reusable heterogeneous catalyst for direct hydrogenation and one-pot reductive amidation of nitro compounds without the use of any ligands under atmospheric pressure. The catalyst can be recovered and recycled several times without marked loss of activity.
