Low-loss MnZn ferrites via nano-LaCoO3 perovskite doping for MHz-frequency applications
Source abstract
Abstract
The widespread adoption of high-frequency electronic devices demands high-quality MnZn ferrites. Minimising power loss is particularly essential to reduce heat generation during operation. In this study, a novel additive, perovskite oxide nano-LaCoO 3 (LCO), was introduced into MnZn ferrites using oxide ceramic process to lower high frequency power loss. Optimal performance of MnZn ferrites was achieved with 1200 ppm LCO, which resulted in a power loss of 143 mW/cm 3 (1 MHz/30 mT/25 ℃) and an initial permeability of 863. The reduction in power loss owing to the addition of LCO was analysed using a loss separation. The moderate addition of LCO refined the grains and enhanced the electrical resistivity of MnZn ferrites, which suppressed the eddy current loss that governs the total power loss. Moreover, a comparison between doping with LCO and co-doping with Co 2 O 3 and La 2 O 3 was conducted and highlighted the superior magnetic performance of LCO-doped MnZn ferrites. This study provides a novel strategy for the development of low-loss magnetic MnZn ferrites for MHz-frequency applications.
