Sr2FeMoO6 perovskite/Ti3C2 MXene nanostructures toward photo-curable epoxy acrylate coatings with enhanced microwave absorption and thermal properties
Source abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the development of epoxy-acrylate films with enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption properties. Epoxy-acrylate resin was synthesized through the esterification of epoxy resin , and various initiators, co-initiators, and light sources were tested to optimize the curing process. The results revealed that UV-B light and TPO as the initiator and TEA as the co-initiator effectively cured the resin by fully breaking the double bonds of acrylic acid. To assess the electromagnetic wave absorption capabilities, SFMO (Sr 2 FeMoO 6 ) nanoparticles and Ti 3 C 2 MXene nanosheets were incorporated into the polymer films. It was found that 2 % wt SFMO nanoparticles significantly improved wave absorption due to their semi-metallic nature. Moreover, combining SFMO with Ti 3 C 2 MXene nanosheets further enhanced the absorption properties. This composite system increased the reflection loss values (31–46 dB in the 8–12 GHz range) and the attenuation constant from 2200 to 2220, indicating improved wave attenuation. The synergistic interaction between Ti 3 C 2 MXene and SFMO nanoparticles boosted the efficiency of microwave absorption. Furthermore, incorporating SFMO/MXene nanocomposites has substantially enhanced the thermal stability of epoxy-acrylate films. This work offers a novel approach to enhance the potential of epoxy-acrylate films for electromagnetic wave absorption, with promising implications for their use in microwave applications.
