Lightweight BIM modeling and digital twin application for precision maintenance of vertically layered GIS busbar tubes
Source abstract
Abstract
With the scaling up of power systems toward high voltage and large capacity, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) with a phase-separated vertical stacking layout has become the preferred choice for urban and compact substations due to its high space utilization. However, the maintenance of lower-level busbar faults is affected by factors such as upper-level obstruction and limited space, resulting in difficulties in construction, high costs, and insufficient accuracy. In addition, traditional experience-driven maintenance faces bottlenecks, including the lack of visual support for plans, inadequate precision control in processes, and the absence of closed-loop data management. Therefore, this paper conducts research on emergency maintenance strategies for GIS busbar tubes based on Building Information Modeling (BIM) models. By leveraging the visualization, simulation, and coordination capabilities of BIM, combined with PLC precision control technology and data analysis methods, a 3D digital model of on-site busbar tubes is constructed to achieve the visualization and controllability of the entire maintenance process. BIM simulation is used to optimize disassembly and assembly processes and resource planning, while PLC integration enables precise numerical control of busbar tube displacement. An intelligent suggestion mechanism based on historical and simulated data is established to improve maintenance plans. This research aims to enhance the efficiency and quality of emergency maintenance for GIS busbar tubes and provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of key equipment in power systems.
