Study on large-scale vortices in chamber floor ports system
Source abstract
Abstract
The chamber floor ports system is an improved design based on the German pressure chamber. Large-scale vortices within the pressure chamber serve as critical factors affecting system performance. This study establishes a large-scale vortex theory for the system, focusing on the structural features and diffusion mechanisms of large-scale vortices. Research indicates that due to the influence of large-scale vortex, the velocity distribution of large-scale impinging jets deviates from the Gaussian distribution and does not exhibit self-similarity. Both the velocity distribution and turbulent kinetic energy distribution of the vortices exhibit self-similarity. An empirical model for the velocity distribution and turbulent kinetic energy distribution was established. The vortex is significantly constrained by the walls of the pressure chamber, making it a special type of bounded vortex. Its diffusion is primarily influenced by the wall effect and the wall attachment effect. As the width of the pressure chamber decreases, wall attachment intensifies, increasing longitudinal diffusion. As the width increases, wall attachment weakens, reducing longitudinal diffusion. Additionally, there is an approximately linear relationship between the width of the pressure chamber and the longitudinal diffusion size of the vortex. A longitudinal diffusion equation for large-scale vortices accounting for wall effects is proposed.
