1T′-MoS2 nanoribbon under perpendicular electric field
Source abstract
Abstract
Based on a 4 × 4 effective k · p Hamiltonian, we theoretically investigate the influence of a perpendicular electric field (PEF, Ez) on the topological edge states of 1T′-MoS2 nanoribbons. We find that the application of a PEF induces an sx-oriented spin component in the topological edge states of the nanoribbon. The mirror symmetry (σyz), which remains intact under the PEF, enforces that the charge carriers in the nanoribbon exhibit a net spin polarization (⟨Sx⟩) exclusively oriented along the sx-direction, while the sy- and sz-components cancel out due to the symmetry (σyz).
