Theoretical analysis and application of fiber bundle model based on thermodynamic energy method
Source abstract
Abstract
In this paper, a fiber bundle model based on the thermodynamic energy method is established. The failure analysis of the fiber bundle is incorporated into the energy system. Compared with the traditional fiber bundle model, this model has expanded the application range and reduced calculation difficulty. Four typical threshold stress distributions of fiber are analyzed, and the corresponding results are in good agreement with the traditional model. Two failure modes of fiber bundles are defined, and the failure criteria under different conditions are calculated. Furthermore, the failure mechanism of the fiber bundle is clarified. In addition, based on previous experimental data, the mechanical behavior of an alumina fiber bundle at different temperatures is predicted by a theoretical model. Results show that the prediction accuracy of the model we proposed is relatively high. In addition to analyzing the mechanical behavior of different types of fiber bundles, this model is also expected to provide guidance in other research fields, such as biological materials and earthquake rupture.
