Miniaturizing coil system for uniform magnetic field in atom spin gyroscope by using natural selection algorithm
Source abstract
Abstract
This study explores the miniaturizing coil systems to generate uniform magnetic fields for Atom Spin Gyroscopes (ASGs), which is critical for improving the angular random walk of rotation sensors. Utilizing a natural selection algorithm, we optimize coil configurations to generate uniform magnetic fields within miniaturized cylindrical magnetic shielding. Experimental validation was conducted using a flexible printed circuit board-based coil system, demonstrating effective generation of spatially uniform magnetic fields. Results indicate that the magnetic field gradient generated by the coil system is 39.92 ± 2.36 nT/mm/A inside a cylindrical shield of 16 mm radius as measured by longitudinal (T1) and transverse (T2) spin relaxation times in an Rb and a Xe gas filled atomic cell. This approach paves the way for compact and high-performance ASG systems.
