FemXpress: Systematic Analysis of X Chromosome Inactivation Heterogeneity in Female Single‐Cell RNA‐Seq Samples (Adv. Sci. 35/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
X Chromosome Inactivation In the Research Article (DOI: 2504754), Guihai Feng, Qi Zhou, Pengfei Wang, Yingke Ma, and co-workers present FemXpress, a systematic tool for analyzing cell-specific X chromosome inactivation (XCI) heterogeneity in female single-cell RNA-Seq samples. FemXpress provides critical support for uncovering functional differences and subpopulations arising from XCI. The image illustration visualizes FemXpress as the legendary Sun Wukong from Chinese mythology, whose piercing “Golden Eyes” can see through superficial appearances and reveal hidden cellular differences caused by XCI heterogeneity. Cover art was conceptualized by Yingke Ma and Guihai Feng and created by Jessica Tang.
