Eosinophils‐Induced Lumican Secretion by Synovial Fibroblasts Alleviates Cartilage Degradation via the TGF‐β Pathway Mediated by Anxa1 Binding (Adv. Sci. 29/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
Joint Osteoarthritis Eosinophils are crucial in the progression of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA). In article number 2416030, Jiang Chen and co-workers show OVA/IL-5-induced eosinophils promote synovial Lumican, which binds chondrocyte Anxa1 to inhibit TGFβ2/Smad2/3 signaling. This reduces cartilage matrix degradation, synovitis, and bone erosion, delaying TMJOA. Eosinophil-stimulated Lumican emerges as a promising therapeutic target for TMJOA treatment.
