Tailoring Piezoelectric Nanogenerators and Microdevices for Cellular Excitation: Impact of Size and Morphology (Adv. Sci. 24/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
Tailoring Piezoelectric Nanogenerators and Microdevices Piezoelectric microdevices, composed of ZnO nanosheets acting as nanogenerators and grown on silicon microparticles, are designed and fabricated to deliver precise electrical cell stimulation. This study optimizes nanosheet growth and microparticle size to enhance electrical cell activation performance while minimizing cellular internalization. This image highlights the key points of the article number 2415028 by Andreu Blanquer, Gonzalo Murillo, and co-workers by illustrating two main ideas: the significance of the size and morphology of the ZnO nanosheets (NSs) and the relationship between the microdevice size and cell internalization.
