SIRT3‐Mediated Deacetylation of DRP1 K711 Prevents Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Parkinson's Disease (Adv. Sci. 17/2025)
Source abstract
Abstract
New Pathological Mechanism of Parkinson's Disease In article number 2411235, Jie Xiang, Jie Zhang, Shengxi Wu, and colleagues employ a well-known Chinese myth “Nezha's Rebellion in the Sea” to elucidate the neuroprotective role of SIRT3 in Parkinson's disease. Nezha's intact half represents healthy mitochondria, whereas the shattered half denotes oxidative stress-induced mitochondrial fragmentation. The Three-Dimensional True Fire and The Qiankun Ring (SIRT3 deacetylase) suppresses DRP1K711 hyperacetylation (the waves), preserving mitochondrial function. This study provides new insights into the pathological mechanism of Parkinson's disease.
