Abstract

Smart Stent Implanted cardiovascular stents can become occluded through processes including restenosis and thrombosis. In article number 2304748, Mahmut Talha Kirimi, Steve L. Neale, and co-workers show that selectively metalizing a non-conductive stent can create electrodes able to detect a build-up of material within and around the stent. This sensor is able to identify the initial development of complications with the potential to transmit an early warning outside the body.
