A Bioinspired Immunostimulatory System for Inducing Powerful Antitumor Immune Function by Directly Causing Plasma Membrane Rupture (Adv. Sci. 20/2024)
Source abstract
Abstract
Bioinspired Immunostimulatory System Oncolysis is a promising antitumor method in clinic. However, improving its specificity and efficiency is still necessary. In article. Number 2305934, Qinyang Wang and co-workers designed a light-controlled oncolytic system (artificial membrane disruptor (AMD)). The AMD recognizes tumor cells like T cells and directly causes plasma membrane rupture (PMR) via lipid peroxidation under red light. The lysed cells appear to swell and bubble, and eventually disintegrate completely. Notably, the oncolysis induced a robust antitumor immune function in tumor-bearing mice. These findings provide new insights into the design of artificial oncolytic system to mediate cell lysis and antitumor immunotherapy.
