Modulation of Spin Dynamics in 2D Transition‐Metal Dichalcogenide via Strain‐Driven Symmetry Breaking (Adv. Sci. 20/2022)
Source abstract
Abstract
Strain Engineering In article number 2200816, Jens Martin, Slaven Garaj, Jing Wu, and co‐workers reveal inversion symmetry breaking in bilayer MoS(2) driven by a random strain gradient induced via the substrate's nanoscale crests, leading to an additional spin relaxation path that increases the spin‐orbit splitting energy by over 10‐fold. These findings demonstrate strain engineering as a reliable approach for spin manipulation in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides. [Image: see text]
