Structures of Class I and Class II Transcription Complexes Reveal the Molecular Basis of RamA‐Dependent Transcription Activation (Adv. Sci. 4/2022)
Source abstract
Abstract
RamA‐Dependent Transcription Activation Transcription activator RamA is linked to multidrug resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniae. In article number 2103669, Xiaodong Zhang, Minggui Wang, and co‐workers reveal the molecular basis for how RamA interacts with RNA polymerase (RNAP) and activates transcription that contributes to antibiotic resistance. Both common and distinct features are revealed in activator bindings and uncover distinct roles of the two C‐terminal domains of RNAP. [Image: see text]
