Alzheimer's Disease: Super‐Resolution Infrared Imaging of Polymorphic Amyloid Aggregates Directly in Neurons (Adv. Sci. 6/2020)
Source abstract
Abstract
In article number 1903004, Oxana Klementieva and co-workers investigate amyloid-β aggregation using optical-photothermal infrared (O-PTIR) microscopy below the infrared diffraction limit, at the subcellular level. Their findings suggest that structural polymorphism of amyloid-β proteins is already present inside the neurons. Targeting the mechanisms leading to these polymorphs could provide new opportunities for novel treatments of Alzheimer's disease.
