Nanotherapeutic Approaches of Interleukin‐3 to Clear the α‐Synuclein Pathology in Mouse Models of Parkinson's Disease (Adv. Sci. 42/2024)
Source abstract
Abstract
Parkinson's Disease IL-3 is a promising therapeutic target in neurodegenerative diseases. Breaking through its limitation of crossing blood-brain barrier, the article number 2405364 by Ruijing Liang, Yunlong Zhang, and co-workers reveals a novel nanogel delivery technology for IL-3 (termed RVG-IL3 NGs). RVG-IL3 NGs can be taken up by dopaminergic neurons and microglia in the brain (as seen in the cloud), releasing IL-3 (indicated by the arrow) and clearing -synuclein pathology in these two neural cells (indicated by the two corresponding eagles), thereby improving the phenotype of Parkinson's disease. This study builds a new route for cytokine-based intervention in treating neurodegenerative diseases.
