Plastic Shavings by Laser: Peeling Porous Graphene Springs for Multifunctional All‐Carbon Applications (Adv. Sci. 21/2023)
Source abstract
Abstract
Laser-Induced Graphene One of the keys to utility of laser-induced graphene (LIG) is the ability to manufacture designed macroscopic geometries in a high-throughput manner. In article number 2301208, Hyun Kim, Sukjoon Hong, Habeom Lee, and co-workers describe a facile process that enables unprecedented control of macroscale geometries in LIG. By a single scanning of laser on a polyimide substrate, intensive pressure created by pyrolysis induces exfoliation of 3D helical LIG springs, as similar to wood or metal shavings observed in traditional machining processes. Without using any labor-intensive, time-consuming, and expensive processes, the presented strategy enables high-throughput mass production of LIG springs for a wide range of all-carbon electromechanical applications.
