Van der Waals Phonon Polariton Microstructures: Van der Waals Phonon Polariton Microstructures for Configurable Infrared Electromagnetic Field Localizations (Adv. Sci. 13/2021)
Source abstract
Abstract
In article number 2004872, Huanjun Chen, Shaozhi Deng, and co‐workers realize a nanoscale tailoring of mid‐infrared electromagnetic field localizations in van der Waals α‐MoO(3) microstructures of different shapes and sizes. This is enabled by the synergy of in‐plane hyperbolic phonon polaritons and spatial confinement effects. Furthermore, the authors show that orientation of the in‐plane isofrequency curve relative to the microstructure edge is a critical parameter governing the localized electromagnetic field distributions.
