Frequency‐Controlled Fluidic Oscillators for Soft Robots (Adv. Sci. 43/2024)
Source abstract
Abstract
Electronic-Free Circuits Electronic-free devices offer a promising platform to achieve functionality in harsh environments. In article number 2408879, Mostafa Mousa, Antonio E. Forte, and co-workers present a novel reconfigurable pneumatic valve (depicted in the cover art) that widen the design space of fluidic, electronic-free circuits, as demonstrated via a frequency-controlled relaxation oscillator and a reconfigurable ring oscillator. These circuits were used to control the actuation frequency of a soft hopper, the locomotion of a soft robotic crawler, and the volume dispensed by a fluidic pump able to achieve mixing of solutions in environments where electronics components cannot operate.
