Giant Piezoelectric Output and Stability Enhancement in Piezopolymer Composites with Liquid Metal Nanofillers (Adv. Sci. 36/2023)
Source abstract
Abstract
Piezoelectric Composites In article number 2304096, Juan Xiong, Long Ren, and co-workers provide a novel strategy of establishing liquid-solid interfaces to significantly improve the output performance and reliability of polymer-based piezoelectric materials. Such liquid-solid interfaces are formed by filling Ga-based liquid metal (LM) nanodroplets into the poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) (PVDF-TrFE). It is revealed that the dielectric oxide layer of conductive LM nanodroplets regulate the piezoelectric output, and the soft character of LM nanofillers contribute to the structure stability during shape-changing, which paves the way towards the high performance piezoelectric composite-based devices.
