Wet Surface Attachment: Micro–Nano Hierarchical Structure Enhanced Strong Wet Friction Surface Inspired by Tree Frogs (Adv. Sci. 20/2020)
Source abstract
Abstract
In article number 2001125, Huawei Chen and co‐workers develop a strong wet attachment surface with hierarchical pillars and nanocavities on top inspired by the unique micro–nano structure on tree frog toe pads. Such a bioinspired surface creates interfacial liquid vertical self‐splitting and self‐sucking effects to generate a strong boundary friction without external preloaded normal force. This research gives potential for broad applications in various fields, such as medical devices and wearable sensors. [Image: see text]
