Emergent Midgap Excitons in Large‐Size Freestanding 2D Strongly Correlated Perovskite Oxide Films (Advanced Optical Materials 10/2021)
Source abstract
Abstract
Achievement of large-size (1 × 1 cm2) freestanding strongly correlated perovskite SrTiO3 films is demonstrated by Haijiao Harsan Ma and co-workers in article number 2100025. Two emergent photoluminescence peaks are observed at ≈2.4 eV (green) and ≈1.8 eV (red) which are absent in its 3D bulk form or as-grown films unexfoliated. The green peak originates from self-trapped excitons localized within TiO6 octahedra and the red peak is related to Ti vacancies. The observation is promising for potential application of 2D perovskite oxide films in high-performance optoelectronics.
