Additively Manufactured Ferroelectric Particulate Composites for Antimicrobial Applications (Adv. Mater. Technol. 7/2023)
Source abstract
Abstract
Antimicrobial Ferroelectrics In article number 2202127, Zois Michail Tsikriteas, Hamideh Khanbareh, and colleagues present the additive manufacturing, characterization, and application of porous ferroelectric composites in antimicrobial surfaces for the first time. Significant antimicrobial performance is observed due to the high pore inter-connectivity, increased reactive surface area hence improved piezoelectric charge generation resulting in annihilation of Escherichia coli in contact with these novel materials.
