Abstract

Porphyrin derivatives with high mobility and excellent thermal stability are synthesized, namely H2DTP, NiDTP, and CuDTP. The coordination of metal atoms in porphyrin rings not only enhanced the single crystal field-effect transistors (SCFETs) mobility, that is from 0.15 cm2 V–1 s–1 for H2DTP to 0.74 and 1.50 cm2 V–1 s–1 for CuDTP and NiDTP, respectively, but also improved their thermal durability, as the NiDTP and CuDTP SCFETs preserve 69.1% and 76.3% of their pristine values at high temperature up to 210 °C in air. However, quick performance degradation is observed for H2DTP upon heating above 90 °C. Therefore, it could be concluded that the easy tunability of metal atoms of porphyrin derivatives would provide alternative routes for developing high-performance OFETs with high thermal durability.
