Abstract

MXenes, 2D materials with high conductivity, adjustable surface terminations, and high magnetism, have garnered attention for their potential to resolve the energy crisis. The incorporation of doping and composite can induce ferroelectricity and ferromagnetism in their intrinsic state. The etching procedure in synthesis significantly impacts their magnetic and electronic characteristics. This review explores the ferromagnetic, ferroelectric, and multiferroic properties of MXenes, mainly transition metal carbides and nitrides, and discusses fabrication procedures. It also describes the potential applications in electronic devices, emphasizing the significance of MXenes' structural and functional properties for advanced technology.
