Abstract

In article number 2001767, Dong-Hwa Seo and co-workers develop a new class of mixed ionic–electronic conductors (MIECs) for a carbon-free cathode (no liquid electrolyte) of a Li-air cell by combining first-principles calculations and experiments. The synthesized perovskite MIECs have both high electronic and lithium-ionic conductivities. The Li-air cell with an MIEC cathode delivers superior reversibility while avoiding the degradation associated with carbonaceous materials.
