Abstract

Self-consistent simulation of charge injection and charge transport in low mobility LEDs is reported. We show that explicit description of the contact region under the same premise as the transport equations is needed to accurately evaluate the current-voltage characteristics of polymer or small-molecule based LEDs. The results are compared to a range of widely used models, which treat the contact region in an implicit manner.
