Abstract

This review delves into the current research trends in organic field-effect transistor (OFET)-based gas sensors, emphasizing their potential applications in wearable and flexible electronics, particularly electronic skin (e-skin). OFET-based gas sensors leverage interactions between gas molecules and organic semiconductor layers to modulate electrical signals, thereby enabling precise gas detection. The review elaborates on key performance metrics, such as sensitivity, response and recovery rates, limit of detection, and selectivity. Advances in material design, including the use of conjugated polymers, organic–inorganic hybrids, and surface modifications, have been discussed as strategies to enhance the sensing performance. The integration of OFET-based gas sensors into flexible platforms highlights their potential for real-time environmental monitoring and health diagnostic applications. Future studies should focus on improving the device stability, sensitivity, and selectivity to meet the demands of practical applications.
