Recent Progress of Linear Polarization-Sensitive Photodetectors Based on Two-Dimensional Perovskites and Heterostructures
Source abstract
Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites have been extensively investigated due to their simple synthesis methods and unique optoelectronic properties. Compared to three-dimensional (3D) perovskites, 2D perovskites have an alternating arrangement of organic and inorganic layers, resulting in an inherent anisotropy structure. Besides, the organic layer can act as a hydrophobic barrier, which can isolate the inorganic layer of 2D perovskites being contacted with water and oxygen, thus allowing them to be stable in air. Therefore, 2D perovskites can be excellent candidates for linear polarization-sensitive photodetectors. Moreover, due to the layered structure, it is easy to integrate 2D perovskites with other layered or nonlayered materials to construct heterostructures without taking the lattice matching among two materials into consideration. In this Review, the structural and optical properties of 2D perovskites are first discussed. The linear polarization-sensitive photodetectors based on 2D perovskites are then introduced. Further, the potential applications of 2D perovskites and their heterostructures are illustrated. Last, the current challenges in this field are summarized, and potential research directions on the 2D perovskites and their heterostructures for linear polarization-sensitive photodetectors are proposed.
