Insights into phase mixing of quasi-2D and 3D perovskites within a polymer matrix
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract This study presents a straightforward approach that utilizes ligands and surfactants to engineer the colloidal suspension of perovskite. By integrating the properties of polymers and perovskites with selective additives, we can create novel materials that encompass the desirable attributes of both components. We have developed a novel ‘perovskite-in-polymer matrix’ solution designed for one-step coating of colloidal perovskite, allowing for the production of distinct and tailored morphologies. This solvent system features various additives and can serve as a template to achieve similar morphologies, provided the additives contain related functional groups. These inks can be adjusted to produce different surface morphologies governed by the control of colloidal composition and the dynamics of molecular arrangement, which we explore in detail in this manuscript. Additionally, this study aims to investigate the phase segregation observed in quasi-2D-3D perovskite polycrystalline films formed using these template inks. Overall, our work on the ‘perovskite-in-polymer matrix’ delves into colloidal chemistry, molecular arrangement, film morphology, and the properties of particle structure, size, and shape, as well as their optoelectronic characteristics. We provide a comprehensive analysis of these aspects of the template inks through an extensive range of measurements, including x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, steady-state photoluminescence, UV-vis absorbance, confocal laser scanning microscopy, and small-angle x-ray scattering.
