Hierarchical Metafabric with Spectral Selectivity and Janus Wettability for Efficient Passive Radiative Cooling and Sweat Management
Source abstract
Abstract
Passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC) textiles offer a zero-energy approach to personal thermal management, yet most designs compromise wearing comfort due to hydrophobicity-induced sweat accumulation. Herein, we report a hierarchical metafabric with spectral selectivity and Janus wettability that integrates efficient radiative cooling with directional sweat management. Constructed via in situ nanoparticle growth and layer-by-layer electrospinning, the metafabric comprises a hydrophilic CaSO 3 /PA66-SF layer and a hydrophobic Al 2 O 3 /PVDF layer. This design achieves a high solar reflectance of 94.2% and an average infrared emissivity of 97.3%. Simultaneously, the hydrophilic–hydrophobic gradient enables directional sweat transport with a one-way transport index of 1074% and a water evaporation rate of 0.3 g h –1 . Furthermore, the metafabric possesses favorable antibacterial activity, mechanical strength, and breathability. This study has certain application potential in multifunctional integrated thermohumidity-regulating textiles.
