Abstract

Abstract The silica-coated LaPO 4 :Eu 3+ three dimensional ordered macroporous (3DOM) materials were prepared via a template-assisted process. The influence of SiO 2 shell on photoluminescence of LaPO 4 :Eu 3+ 3DOM materials was investigated. The photoluminescence intensity of LaPO 4 :Eu 3+ 3DOM materials was strongly enhanced due to the suppression of surface quenching effect caused by the formation of SiO 2 shells. The luminescence lifetime change of LaPO 4 :Eu 3+ 3DOM material after and before SiO 2 shell was observed, which is attributed to the medium refractive index variety of the LaPO 4 :Eu 3+ 3DOM material caused by formation of SiO 2 shells.
