Abstract

Abstract ZrC nanopowder can be synthesized by a carbothermal reduction via solution-based pathway. For the first time, an additional foaming process is introduced before high temperature pyrolysis. By foaming assisted approach, smaller particles can be synthesized. The foam formation can reduce the mutual contact of the particles by separating them physically, thus to hinder the particle growth and coalescence.
