Abstract

Transient thermal analysis has a wide range of applications across scientific disciplines including physics, material science, and biology. While this analysis is typically straightforward when measurement is taken over minutes or seconds, shorter time scales present challenges due to the need for ultrafast heating and cooling phases. Traditional methods are often constrained due to using laser pulses that induce a combination of photothermal effects. This study aims to develop an electronic circuit and sensor on the Kapton HN substrate capable of generating pure pulsed hyperthermia with a heating rate of up to 168 °C ms −1 . Importantly, the peak can be held for a controlled duration, and the temperature decreases at a rate of up to 50% drop per 1.26 ms. The system is suitable for the thermal characterization of substances that can be placed as thin films. Additionally, it enables the measurement of thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity of substrates. Experiments and simulations are performed in the air and water. Notably, its applicability in microorganism inactivation studies is demonstrated on an endemic human coronavirus on parylene‐C. The results may pave the way for developing new applications for organic electronics such as large‐area self‐disinfecting covers for frequently touched surfaces.
