Dose Analysis of Reproductive Organs during Abdomen Radiography for Childbearing Age’s Women: Simulation and Actual data based
Source abstract
Abstract
Abdominal radiography is one of the most radiographs in medical institutions. Therefore, this study aims to confirm the effect of dose reduction using shielding, focusing on measuring the radiation dose to each organ of women of childbearing age. The actual dose was defined as the average value of entrance surface dose (ESD) using a dosimeter. The simulation design for dose comparison of each organ was performed using MCNP program with HDRK-Women phantom. As a shielding method, 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 mm Pb were applied to calculate the shielding rate for each condition. The actual measured average exposure doses were 9.69, 2.14, and 1.07 μSv, respectively (All p<0.05), and the simulation dose were 11.1, 2.54, and 1.21 μSv, respectively. Under shielding conditions, the effect of dose reduction was confirmed by 98.99% (Actual : 99.35%, Simulation : 98.63%).
