STUDY ON THE PREPARATION OF PITCH-BASED CARBON FIBERS FROM NAPHTHA-CRACKED TAR

Four types of pitch were obtained by thermal - modification using the naphtha - cracked tar as the raw material,which is prepared by Liaoyang No. 2 Chemical Experiment Plant. In order to exploit their application,three kinds of pitch were chosen to prepare carbon fibers by Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Through melt-spin,oxidation and carbonization etc,naphtha pitch-based carbon fibers were obtained. Among them,carbon fibers from No. 5 pitch sample have the best mechanical performance,whose the average diameter of those carbon fibers is about 9. 6μm, tensile strength and modulus are 1 127 MPa and 50. 7 GPa,respectively. The performance of them is best than our country,and is better than whole world.
