COMPATIBILITY OF CARBONACEOUS MATERIALS CONTAINING HYDROXYAPATITE WITH SOFT TISSUE
Source abstract
Abstract
The compatibility of carbonaceous materials containing hydroxyapatite with soft tissue, such as muscle, adipose tissue, and periosterum was studied. The carbonaceous materials containing hydroxyapatite were implanted into the boundary of muscle and periosterum of 5 pigs. The results show that the fiber membrane is found around the implanted materials in the 3 pigs. The phenomenon of hyperplasia of blood capillarity is also found in the fiber membrane and periosterum. The carbonaceous materials used in this study consist of two kinds of compositions:one is carbon/carbon composite, the other is hydroxyapatite powder. The hydroxyapatite content of the carbonaceous materials is 4.3%~6 1%.
