RESEARCH AND APPLICATION OF CARBON-CARBON COMPOSITES IN CHINA

Research on carbon-carbon composites in China was from the beginning of 1970s. Now,the ma- terials have been successfully used in many areas. At first,the carbon-carbon composite throat nozzles of solid rocket engine began into practical stage in the beginning of 1980s. Then,the materials used as abra- sion resistance materials and thermal protective materials were broken through in these years,and applied into the brake discs for the new model warplanes and the missile nosecones. In this paper,authors have re- viewed the history of developing carbon-carbon composites in our country,and summarized the achieve- ments,especially in several key research areas,such as the low cost manufacturing processes,the anti-oxi- dation coating,simulation and modeling,application,and so on. Based on the analysis,some opinions,which should pay attention for developing carbon-carbon composites further,have been given.
