Abstract

It was shown in this study that the gap control method, a solution for the color separation problem in integral imaging, could be implemented not only by making the lens array closer than the focal length but also by making it farther than the focal length. Besides, analysis was done by comparing two gap control methods through simulation and experimentation. It was verified that color separation is eliminated using the gap control method, and criteria for the reduction of the color separation problem were given by analyzing the spatial frequency. The analysis and simulation results suggest that the expressible depth range is generally superior when the real-type gap control method is adopted. The experiment results supporting the analysis were also presented.
