Diffusion assessments for the Al–Cu–Ni system by diffusion triple experiment and two-dimensional diffusion simulation
Source abstract
Abstract
In the present work, one diffusion triple for the Al–Cu–Ni ternary system was assembled and heat-treated at 1373 K. Electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) was used to measure the composition distribution of the single-phase diffusion triple. A new two-dimensional (2D) diffusion simulation scheme was adopted to simulate the 2D composition distribution, and to efficiently assess the atomic mobilities of the fcc phase in the Al–Cu–Ni system over a wide composition range at 1373 K. The simulation results show good agreements with the measurements.
