Abstract

Dependences for determining the approach, the curvature radius of the contact surface under a load, and the real area of contact of a single cylindrical asperity with the surface of a part are presented. It is shown that, at the same values of the real area of contact, the values of the loads that compress the joint of the parts with the roughness modeled by cylindrical or spherical microasperities can differ substantially.
