Abstract

A method is described for the testing of aircraft friction units in order to determine fields of application of different combinations of structural materials and lubricants. The results of comparative tests are reported. It is shown than lubricants influence considerably the ultimate load-carrying capacity of a sliding bearing. Ultimate contact pressures are obtained for some combinations of structural materials, lubricants, and coatings in friction and static loading.
