Kinetics of sample wear on four-ball friction-testing machine using lubricants of different consistencies
Source abstract
Abstract
The kinetics of sample wear on a four-ball friction-testing machine using various lubricants is analyzed. It is shown that the growth of the contact-patch area on the balls obeys the kinetic second-order equation, which, within the limits, corresponds to catastrophic wear. The linear wear rates and the strain level of the ball material in different lubricating media are estimated.
