Development of technological fluids for glass machining taking into account molecular forces
Source abstract
Abstract
The behavior of technological fluids in a microcrack that resulted from machining has been analyzed based on the theory of molecular interactions in condensed bodies. The authors have proposed an approximate formula for calculating the interaction forces between the glass surfaces separated by a microcrack The chief parameters that determine the interaction between the glass surfaces separated by a clearance filled with a fluid are the refractive indices of the glass and fluid. Certain types of fluids are taken as examples of the applicability of the formula in predicting the efficiency of a chosen fluid at diamond-abrasive working of glass.
