The base equations that allow a complete exposition of the problem are indicated, together with their de^^elopment with the use of programmable calculators. It is shown that there is a need to use a new concept, the Relative elongation index; its experimental determination is commented and ex-posed for 20 different samples, comparing their results with values deduced theoretically for an ideal liquid. The non-universality of the above mentioned is observed, although for technical purpo-ses a unique function of the same may be used without introducing errors that may be detected with present day technology. The most probable Relative elongation index function for the scatter of experimental points obtained is determined. An example serves to illustrate the design process that is used at present in the Saint Gobain Emba-lage Company with this system.
